STRENGTH IN NATURE

STRENGTH IN NATURE

8th June 2018

STRENGTH IN NATURE is an abstract experimental short film, that I have filmed and edited, which focuses on texture, movement and colour, through a combination of substances and materials. Drawing inspiration from early abstract and experimental works by Len Lye and installations by Marielle Neudecker. The project explores environments and atmospheres in a contained space. This introduces the resilience of nature and highlights the endurance of nature in the outside world. The short film creates an atmospheric experience through the use of moving image and sound, provoking the audience to immerse themselves in their own imaginations and interpretations.

I directed, filmed and edited this promotional film showcasing the behind the scenes of the process and building of the products, by looking into detail and showing customers the working environment in which their products are being made.

Who Am I?

Who Am I?

Short Film

18th January 2016

Within this short film, I have concentrated on identity and how we show ourselves. Most people can remember a first day, whether it be college, university, work, meeting someone for the first time etc. This can be overwhelming at first, as everything is new to you, in which you have to establish your place and how you are in the certain situation. The main individual in the film is experiencing her first day at university, where the story of the film is getting across the loneliness of the person and showing how she finds her way through this experience, concentrating on identity and hiding this. At university you may come across familiar faces, however this situation is new to you, in which you are in a different city/location with unfamiliar faces and buildings. It is hard to adjust at first but as you get used to the surroundings it becomes easier for an individual to relax.

By wearing a mask it covers the face, the main feature of a person and hides their true identity. The mask disguises your identity. You can be whoever you want with one but your true identity is hidden. What would happen if everyone wore a mask, would it change the way we communicate and see each other. By hiding our face does that block and hide who we are? Or does it give us the freedom to be someone else? Or is it a way of letting yourself not fully experiencing your true identity when in public?

'One Day' Time-lapse Film

One Day

Time-lapse video

31st October 2016

This experimental time-lapse introduces the audience to different locations taken throughout the day. Starting with a sunrise and ending with the sunsetting. This captures the journey throughout the day, including the differences of location and the changing of light and time. This explores times in different locations, where each place ends at the same point and each day is the same wherever the place. The video has a sense of time passing, hence why I produced a time-lapse, in which the day passes by quickly and before you know it it's the next day. It also introduces a sense of travel throughout the different clips of locations used. These clips fit together to show 'one day'. The time-lapse speeds up the progression throughout the day showing how quickly it passes from morning to night.
